EMPLOYMENT IS NOT CHARITY
When someone employs you to work for him or her, the person’s expectation is that you should be able bring enough value such that he or she can make enough money from which he or she will pay you and have some profit.
No, the person didn’t employ you to help you. The person is not your Destiny Helper.
He or she employed you because there’s something he or she couldn’t do that you can do, and that thing that you can do is worth MORE than your salary. So he is willing to give out your salary in exchange for that thing that you can do.
Young people these days have the feeling that their employers are helping them, and so, they feel reluctant to do the job they’re being paid to do.
You see them complaining bitterly about how their employers are stressing them too much.
I have worked for government and for private institutions and on many occasions, I have gotten really upset with my coworkers’ attitude to work.
Someone will pay you to do a job and then you start feeling reluctant to do the job. In most cases, you add no value and you are not concerned that your employer is not making the money he or she expected to make by employing you. You are very comfortable watching your employer scoop losses while you wait eagerly for your salary at the end of the month.
While it is permissible in government jobs because most government jobs are opened to empower (help) people as most government agencies are of no use and contribute nothing, it is not permissible in private institutions.
Except someone opens a charity organization, no one goes into private business without expecting profit. No one employs people without expecting to make a profit that is more than the salary he is paying.
It’s not fair to complain that your employer is using you. The only reason why he placed an advert for a job is because he wants someone to use to achieve his goals and if you didn’t want to be used, then you shouldn’t have applied in the first place.
He is using you because you couldn’t use yourself. If you knew how to use yourself and could actually use yourself, you would have been using yourself a long time ago.
Stop applying for jobs that you are not ready to do. Stop destroying people’s companies, wasting their money and making their sweat go in vain.
I have been an employer and an employee and I know how things are on both ends. I know how sad I feel when my employer isn’t getting the value of the money he is paying to the workers. This made me not to be a friendly colleague to those I work with because I get worked up whenever they aren’t doing what should be done for our employer to make his desired profit and to truly justify the salary he is paying us. This makes me appear like a busybody
But it’s not fair. If you are not ready to work for someone else, then raise your own capital, start up your own business, employ people, let me see how you will smile when you have made no profit and you still have to pay workers from the money they did not make for you.
Dear young people, we have to do more. It’s true that Nigerian government is killing businesses with unstable economic policies, but most businesses are killed by young people who apply, get the jobs and refuse to work, yet earn salaries and plunge the company into bankruptcy.
There is high unemployment, but there are so many vacancies in private organisations that they don’t want to fill up simply because employing people in those positions would bring down the company instead of uplifting it as those people will only get employed and start milking the company dry through salaries and add nothing in value.
Employees are not your helpers. They employed you because they need your services so they can make more money. Let it sink in. If they’re not making more money from your efforts than they are paying you, then you are useless to them.
It’s Sunday, go to church and pray to God to cleanse you of the spirit of liquidating people’s businesses because they employed you.
