It’s beyond disgusting that a two time governor and minister of the federation could openly admit that he, alongside the current president, the past president, and all Activists in Nigeria including Femi Falana and Wole Soyinka sabotaged Nigeria and her economy, risked the lives of Nigerians, played with the minds of Nigerians and destroyed Nigeria’s economy “just for politics”.
The statement from Ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi that they all knew the truth in 2012 and they knew that Jonathan did the right thing but had to stage the OCCUPY NIGERIA protests for political reasons is one that is not just absurd but one that people in the legal profession should crosscheck to find out if these people should be sued for Economic Sabotage, Mass Deception or even treason.
For those who have forgotten, the OCCUPY NIGERIA Protests lasted for over one week. The economy was grounded to a halt as NLC and TUC shutdown the country. There was no movement of vehicles in the major cities as NURTW joined the Labour Strike.
The banks were shutdown, schools, markets, offices, airports, Seaports, hospitals, everything was shutdown and grounded to a halt.
Fayemi, Dino Melaye, Buhari, Tinubu, Soyinka, Femi Falana and lots of others blocked all the major high ways in Lagos and Abuja, all holding hands together, refusing to move unless subsidy were reversed.
Flavour even released a song titled EBEZINA to join the protests.
I and my family felt the brunt of that suffering first hand as my father’s burial and funeral took place 2nd and 3rd of January, 2012.
Not only did the OCCUPY NIGERIA protests make things extremely expensive for us, it prevented nearly everyone that could have attended from attending because there was no movement.
You can then imagine the suffering that many Nigerians passed through. A lot of people who couldn’t get treatment because of the economic shutdown could have died.
Going by FAYEMI’S words, the OCCUPY NIGERIA Protests stands as the single largest Mass Deception and Economic Sabotage against the Nigerian State.
Yet these people are allowed to run the country as they smile and freely enjoy their spoils after plunging the nation into unimaginable hardship.
If OCCUPY NIGERIA was just mere politics played by APC against the Nigerian State, despite knowing that the government was doing the right thing, one must then wonder if all other things like the kidnap of Chibok girls, Boko Haram bombings of various places in Nigeria, Sanusi’s alleged missing 49 billion dollars and other things APC rode on to come to power were not just mere politics as many had alleged then.
I must admit that I am terribly hurt. I am hurt, not because I for once didn’t agree with Jonathan’s decision to end subsidy nor because I for once supported APC, but people at least, I thought then that they were simply protesting out of ignorance or because the masses were suffering.
While I have always believed that APC meant no good for Nigeria, this admittance by Kayode Fayemi leaves me with no choice than to believe without any iota of doubt that APC created, sponsored and promoted Boko Haram for mere politics and that APC is firmly behind the Kidnap of Chibok girls and other crimes against the Nigerian State.
For OCCUPY NIGERIA, since wrongly conceived, has done more harm to the Nigerian State than a combination of Boko Haram, Bandits, Unknown Gunmen, Fulani Herdsmen and Niger Delta Militants.
In a sane society, APC must answer for their crimes, but in Nigeria, we make a joke out of grievous crimes.
