“…My Darling Damzy…
I hate mathematics and it’s questions
But setting my eyes on you made me fall inlove with mathematical equations
Because seeing you and falling in love with you happened simultaneously, reminding me of Simultaneous equation.
The algebraic equation of your skin tone and texture multiplied by your sweet voice and sense of humour made quadratic equation very easy; √X= Damzy, Angel sent on Ijeọma to bring Iheọma to the world.
See, I know Ichie Maths may not agree with my formula
But if you search well in my medulla
You will find the truth buried in my oblongata
That you and I are meant to be together
See baby, I can solve SOH CAH TOA for you
Because the Angle of elevation from your weist to your chest takes away my depression.
Your love has held me tied down like a Circle in triangle
That even Pythagoras theorem cannot disentangle
I promise to love you
Kiss you
Cherish you
Praise you
Honour you
And even cum for you
I won’t hurt you once, I won’t hurt you ever
I can’t promise to live forever
But I will always love you forever.
Please darling, let this be the beginning of a happily ever after”.
Your love ❤️
Duke”
A thunderous laughter eclipsed the classroom as Santos finished reading the poem I wrote for Damzy.
I wished the ground could open and swallow me up but it seems God doesn’t answer that kind of prayers.
I didn’t know what to do with shame.
There’s this Nsukka dialect exclamation that Bishop Alex often said and Santos re-echoed it to me me alongside the students.
They all exclaimed, “Ọgaabụ agaaa! Bụ agaa!!!?” At this point, disappearing wouldn’t even clean the shame and shyness. Ụwa ntọọr.
What happened was that I wanted to give Ijeọma the letter containing the poem but she didn’t come on time.
I made my greatest mistake, which was to give it to one of her friends to give to her whenever they see her.
Those ones became inquisitive and opened it and were reading. One of them took it and ran away, others pursued her until they nearly pushed down Santos before Santos took it from them.
My matter come cast.
How did Ijeọma take the embarrassment and what happened afterwards?
Stay tuned…
