Rev. Fr. Chukwu Nyerem Makata was one of those who helped Facebook to translate English words to Igbo, so that when you write Igbo words, you can click on the translation option and see the meaning in English.
Well, you all are familiar with the ridiculous and sometimes totally stupid interpretations we get here. While it is funny to some of you, it annoys the crap out of those of us that are invested in the promotion of the Igbo Language and Culture.
When Fr. Makata was asked what happened, he said that Facebook applied democracy. It was done by voting. They were many called to do the stuff and the translator who mobilized the most votes, carried the day.
That is why we have stupid translation and total bunkum here, just like our leaders.
Nothing that was done democratically using Universal Adult Franchise ever turns out well.
It’s why Countries like USA, whom despite being the world’s greatest promoter of Democracy, set out a body that can overrule the outcome of a democratic election, and we saw that in 2016 when Trump became the president despite the fact that Hillary Clinton won him by over 200,000 votes.
Sometimes, I wonder why we don’t get to choose the doctors that would treat us by voting.
Like, instead of drilling young men and women in the medical school, taking them through numerous tests and experiments, then give them temporal license, then watch them strictly for a year, before giving them permanent license, and still insist that they renew the license yearly?
Why not just call a group of young men and ask people to vote? The winner becomes a doctor? Then after every 4 years, we review and see if he has performed well? Then we choose whether to reelect him or not?
After all, we can impeach him if he kills too many patients right? Isn’t that a wonderful idea? So that everyone will have the opportunity to be a doctor! I mean, that doctor’s office isn’t one man’s father’s office. We need to change them periodically so that anyone can come and try his or her own luck.
I mean, even if he is doing well, he shouldn’t become a sit tight doctor or a life doctor! He should come out so another person can try. Isn’t that Democracy?
How about we pick our teachers and professors by voting? How about our car drivers and pilots? What about our Pastors, Priests and other religious leaders? How about our cooks? Our security Agents nko? Like we pick who becomes a soldier by voting?
Think about it and you will see that Democracy is just STUPID! I don’t see why some people had to die fighting for such stupidity!
You think it’s insane for us to pick those who become medical doctors by voting, but you think it’s okay for us to pick who becomes our president by voting?
Do you realize that while the incompetent doctor can only kill few sick people, the president with one wrong move, can kill a million healthy and sick people. Not just people, animals, trees, businesses, everything!
A medical doctor who treats a few lives is required to be trained for 7 years with multitudes of certificates, yet a president who is incharge of 200 million lives should have just school Certificate. He is not even required to pass it. He should just have it.
And why should everybody have a say in who becomes the president? Who on earth had a say in who becomes a doctor?
You see, for a doctor incharge of a few lives, you need a panel of extremely trained Professionals with long years of experience to approve. But for a president that is incharge of 200 million lives, you need a boy or girl of 18 years who doesn’t even know what he or she wants out of life. Who still can’t choose the right clothes to where or the right course to study in the university.
How does that make sense?
Do you realize that to be a president or governor or a legislator, one needs to be have experience in economy, experience in health, experience in engineering, experience in finances, experience in Civil Service, experience in security, experience in Agriculture, experience in trade, investment and development, experience in international politics, experience in Media and Information, experience in law, experience in psychology, experience in sociology and social works, experience in Academics, etc.
It is the biggest job in the country, yet you just need school Certificate to qualify and then a bunch of people who like your handsome face or your dance steps can vote you in?
I think Democracy is the biggest bullshit we’ve had to swallow. Plus the nonsense cost too much money. The money spent by INEC, security agencies, all the political parties and candidates, international observers, etc for Nigeria’s 2023 elections is enough to build 37 refineries, one in each state, and still have some left to build a rail line to connect the capital of every state in Nigeria.
But we wasted it on Democracy! Is that reasonable to you?
If Medical Doctors are grilled for 7 years, I think leaders should be grilled for 10 to 30 years before being approved by a body of Leadership experts and each placed in position according to their expertise and then placed in various positions.
Just like doctors, they should renew their license yearly and if they are not doing well, their license will be withdrawn.
