MY NYSC PLUG

“…It was on Monday morning that I woke up to a WhatsApp message from NYSC plug, telling me that Call up is out and I should check to confirm.

I quickly logged into NYSC Portal to check where I have been posted.

I didn’t understand what I saw, I kept refreshing the thing because I was seeing Gombe. I assumed that was the branch address of NYSC, not where I was posted.

I called my plug so he can direct me properly on where the State I have been posted to is located on the call up letter.

He said it was the top left corner. I looked at the top left corner and it was the same Gombe. I asked him if that was not NYSC Northern Address? Baba cut the phone.

I started calling back but it said user busy.

At that point, a line of Nkem Owoh’s song, “Master” started playing in my head repeatedly. It said;

“419 no be thief
It’s just a game
Everybody dey play am
If anybody fall’ uu mugu
My brother
I go chop am!…”

Once more, I had to start picking up the pieces of myself after Nigeria happened to me once more.

I started asking for other means of relocation since obviously, I couldn’t get stay in Gombe. There’s no much difference between the state and Borno in terms of insecurity, meanwhile, it’s orientation camp was turned to a terrorist rehabilitation center, forcing them to use a secondary school as it’s orientation camp at Amada.

I don’t want to die yet.

All the inquiries I made showed that I couldn’t change anything at that point. I would have to go to camp first.

And there were three grounds I could redeploy. It’s either insecurity or marriage or sickness.

Since insecurity would be difficult and procuring a marriage certificate without a partner would be difficult too, especially since I was still terribly heartbroken, the only option was to claim that I was sick.

I went to a government hospital and obtained a doctor’s report from a nurse.

E shock you? 🤣

Actually, I got to the hospital and discovered that they were selling Doctor’s report for 1,000 naira and there were many people coming to buy.

So the Doctor would sign like 30 Doctor’s report per day and drop. Then the nurse will start selling it. All they did was to just put our names there.

According to the Doctor’s report, all of us were suffering from one sickness. And that sickness requires us to be close to home where we can easily get back to our parents and relatives.

I bought my own doctors report and got set for a 2 day journey to Gombe.

It’s time to serve my fatherland that never cared for me.
