NAVIGATING THROUGH SCHOOL

“…The worst part of engaging in illegal deals is that you can’t complain to the authorities when you’re shortchanged.

Our Psy 141 results came out. Most people that sorted actually got F. I was too lucky to get a D. Atleast I won’t be resitting for the exams.

We couldn’t complain to the Department that the class Rep ate our money. How could we tell them that the money was meant for sorting?

We grumbled, shouted, threatened the class Rep and did all kinds of things but that’s just that.

After all said and done, those who failed started planning how to rewrite it. The rest of us that it crippled their CGPA, we had to start praying that things would be better in other courses.

Especially me that was looking for 3.5 CGPA to redeploy to Law.

Unfortunately, the results from philosophy courses were equally not encouraging.

It was a dwelling place for Ds and Cs.

They even told me to jump and Jubilate. That since Late Fr. Benard Eze left, no one else had gotten 1st Class in Philosophy Department.

That as a matter of fact, most sets didn’t have anyone with 2.1, that those who graduate with 2.2 and those who graduate with 3rd class are usually grateful to God as more than half of the students usually drop out in 2nd or 3rd year.

While most results were out, some lecturers were too notorious. Their own results hardly come out until a week to the next exam.

This made it difficult for me to fully calculate my CGPA.

From the results I had, I was still at 3.0. I needed to work extra extra hard in the second semester to get to 3.5 and I also prayed seriously for the remaining results to be all As.

As days went by, it seemed like my fate was being sealed and that I would end up studying combined social sciences.

By the end of the second semester, it was nearly obvious to me that I goes nowhere.

It’s not just that my CGPA didn’t reach 3.5, but that the results of 2nd semester year one was most likely not going to be out until second semester year two.

Meanwhile, I was supposed to start the first semester year 2 in another department, using that result.

I now had no choice than to start planning my future afresh with Combined Social Sciences.

I was at crossroads and that was when I started navigating through School.
